Luis is of Mayan/Spanish descent, Pipil from El Salvador, Central America. He is a Polio survivor, an immigrant, now a citizen of this country. Luis’ work is influenced by the myriad of dualities that are derived from the different cultural ideologies, the many life experiences that have and continue to shape his worldview. The pieces that are in the exhibition are explorations of his connection, identity, and his sense of place in this society. The work employs cultural, societal, natural, and mystical elements. Most of the work that Luis creates looks at cultural connectivity to the natural world, and issues that affect Indigenous People of the Americas and beyond.
