Janaya is a visual artist specializing in acrylic and pencil mediums. Her work depicts the humanity and emotional authenticity within Black portraiture; drawing inspiration from editorial photography and cultural references.

Self taught, the Bay Area native began painting in the summer of 2020 as a means of therapy during a turbulent time. With photorealistic intention, Janaya highlights the beauty and rich identities of her subjects - embracing bold values and prominent colors.

Capturing the complexities of self-expression and human connection, Janaya hopes to excel her intricate artwork by virtue of storytelling.
